2. Information You Provide to Us
We collect the following when you choose to give it to us:
- Order information — name, billing and shipping address, email address, telephone number, and the contents of your order.
- Payment information — processed directly by our payment provider. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the card type and last four digits. We do not receive or store your full card number.
- Account information — if you create an account: your name, email address, password (stored in encrypted form), and order history.
- Contact and enquiry information — anything you send us through our contact form, by email, or by telephone.
- Marketing preferences — your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter, and your consent record.
- Reviews and submitted content — any review, rating, or photograph you post.
3. Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically by our servers and by the technologies described in Section 6:
- IP address, approximate location derived from it, and time zone;
- Browser type and version, operating system, and device type;
- Pages viewed, referring website, and how you navigate the Site;
- Items added to your basket and session identifiers needed to keep your basket working.
4. Why We Use Your Information
We use personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected, namely:
- To process, fulfil, ship, and invoice your orders;
- To communicate with you about your order, including delivery updates and any issues;
- To answer your questions and provide customer support;
- To handle returns, refunds, and warranty claims;
- To operate, secure, and improve the Site;
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized transactions;
- To send marketing communications where you have consented, and to honour your withdrawal of that consent;
- To meet our legal, accounting, and tax obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade it to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. Consent
By providing your information to complete a purchase or contact us, you consent to our collecting and using it for that purpose. Where we wish to use your information for a secondary purpose, such as marketing, we will ask for your consent separately and you may refuse or withdraw it at any time.
To withdraw consent, contact us using the details in Section 15, or use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before the withdrawal, and we may still need to retain certain information to meet legal obligations.
6. Cookies & Similar Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies. These fall into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary — required for the Site to function, including keeping items in your basket, maintaining your session, and securing checkout. These cannot be switched off without breaking the Site.
- Functional — remember preferences such as your chosen currency or language.
- Analytics — help us understand how visitors use the Site so we can improve it.
- Marketing — used to measure the performance of advertising, where applicable.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers allow you to refuse them entirely. Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent the shopping basket and checkout from working.
7. Service Providers We Share Information With
We share personal information only as needed with service providers who perform functions on our behalf, and only to the extent required for them to perform those functions:
- Website hosting — stores the Site and its database.
- E-commerce platform — our store runs on WordPress with WooCommerce.
- Payment processing — handles your payment securely.
- Shipping carriers — receive your name, address, and telephone number to deliver your order.
- Contact form and email delivery — transmits messages you send through the Site.
- Analytics — measures Site usage.
- Web fonts — the Site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when a page loads.
These providers are permitted to use your information only to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information where required by law, court order, or a lawful request by a public authority, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
8. Transfers Outside Québec and Canada
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Québec, including in other Canadian provinces, the United States, or elsewhere. Where this occurs, the information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions and accessible to their courts and law-enforcement authorities.
Before transferring personal information outside Québec, we assess whether it will receive adequate protection, having regard to its sensitivity, the purpose of its use, the protections in place, and the legal framework of the destination jurisdiction.
9. How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by law. In particular:
- Order and transaction records are retained for the period required by Canadian tax and accounting legislation, generally six years from the end of the relevant tax year.
- Account information is kept while your account remains open, and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Enquiries and support correspondence are kept for as long as needed to resolve the matter and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Marketing consent records are kept until you withdraw consent, and for a period afterwards to evidence that withdrawal.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or render it anonymous.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the Site, access controls limiting who can view customer data, and payment processing handled entirely by our payment provider so that full card details never reach our systems.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a confidentiality incident occurs that presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the affected individuals and the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec as required by law.
11. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or ambiguous;
- Withdraw consent to the use of your information, including for marketing;
- Request deletion of information we no longer have a lawful basis to keep;
- Receive a copy of the information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format, and ask that it be transmitted to another organization;
- Be informed of the reasons behind, and the principal factors used in, any decision about you made exclusively by automated processing, and to submit observations about it;
- Complain to the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are dissatisfied with our response.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer using the details in Section 15. We will respond within the timeframe required by law, generally 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
12. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province, state, or country of residence. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Third-Party Links
The Site may link to third-party websites, including manufacturers’ websites and mapping services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing them with personal information.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. The revised version takes effect when posted, and the “Last updated” date at the top will change accordingly. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify you.
